The ring around the button is also a battery level indicator and will flash red when the battery power is 25% or less and then turn solid red when the battery power is 10% or less to indicate the battery needs charging.Ī dual directional pocket clip allows the Flex to be easily attached to clothing, a backpack or even to a hat as a substitute for a head torch. The light around the button glows red while charging is in progress and turns blue once charging is complete. The supplied cable is plugged into the micro USB port and then connected to a standard USB port or USB adaptor. The included battery is charged inside the torch via the micro USB port which is on the neck of the torch and revealed by twisting the head of the torch into the spot focus position. To access the turbo simply hold the button down while the torch is on or off and the turbo will stay on for 40 seconds before reverting back to the last used setting, or high mode if the torch was originally off. Double click the button with the torch on or off to access the strobe. Press the button once to turn the light on in high, press again for low and press a third time for off. The side button operates all the functions of the torch. The 6x zoom allows you to focus the torch from spot to flood by twisting the head, offering great all-round illumination, making it perfect for searching or scanning large areas. The high output is a constant setting of 250 lumens that lasts for 2 hours, 30 minutes and one other brightness settings is available as well as strobe. The high power LED outputs an intensely bright beam of 450 lumens on the turbo output, which is designed as a boost setting, allowing 40 seconds output at a time in order to prevent the temperature of the torch becoming too high and thus protecting the LED. In other words, if you are not a tinkerer, you will probably be better off upgrading to a better light. The NEBO 450 Flex utilises flex fuel technology which allows the torch to be powered by a rechargeable 14500 lithium-ion battery (included) or the Flex can also use a AA alkaline battery as a back up when you run out of charge. It could also cost you more than the value of the Nebo depending on the components. Whether all of that work is worth it depends on how much of a hobbyist youa re and how much you enjoy tinkering. Replacing a driver takes some soldering work and you need to have gone through enough troubleshooting to make sure that would be the issue. I've never seen anyone actually take a Nebo apart before so I have no idea what type of driver or switch may be in it. Both require trying to figure out what aftermarket replacements would possibly work in your light. If not, then you are looking at some more extensive troubleshooting that could involve switch or driver replacement. If you go through everything and nothing seems to work, contact the manufacturer to see if they provide any warranty support. Its more likely a switch or contact issue or its possible the driver burned out. It's unlikely that the LED itself is the problem. You probably did nothing wrong, but just fell victim to a somewhat crappy light.
